Try the Olympic sport of fencing

Bromsgrove Swords is a friendly fencing club catering for all tastes and weapons from beginner, improvers to national level competitors. We organise regular beginners courses and can provide full safety equipment. Just turn up wearing a t-shirt, track suite bottoms or loose clothing and we will do the rest. Of course if you are an experienced fencer you will also be most welcome, whether as a visitor or as a regular member.

Fencing has been described as physical chess in that to succeed in competitions you need not only speed and agility, but also guile and cunning to out-whit your opponent. It is a great way to keep fit. An interesting alternative to the tread mill or jogging alone. A competitive fencing bout can burn as many calories as a 1 mile run! Due to the multifacteted nature men and women can compete on fairly even terms and many fencers are active well into their 60s and 70s. Not every fencer is interested in competitions and we have a number of 'fencing parents' who attend to keep fit and learn more about the sport that their sons or daughters have chosen.

We meet on a Monday evening in term time at 17:50 - 19:00 Arena, Bromsgrove School, B61 7DU  (enter via Main  entrance on Worcester Rd)

Bromsgrove Swords is a registered with British Fencing No. 4332.
